What is the difference between orders and impressions?

One of our frequently asked questions is the difference between orders and impressions. So we'll give you a brief breakdown of both in this article and hopefully after reading it, you'll be all the wiser!

Orders are, to put it simply, Shopify Orders.
Impressions, on the other hand, are counted every time a customer visits the Thank You page.

Here's an Example:

A customer completes a purchase and goes to the Thank You Page - a day later they go back to the Thank You page to check the order, and 2 days later they once again return to the Thank You page to view the tracking information. That would make 1 order and 3 impressions.

We count impressions separately so you can get better insights, such as the number of times customers visit your Thank You page per order.
The more they do, the more important it is for you to optimize that page for conversions.

📝 NOTE: The number of impressions do not impact billing in any way, they are simply meant to give you more data to learn from.
You can check the stats anytime in our live analytics section located on the dashboard.

Well, that’s a wrap!
