In this article, we'll outline the common causes and provide steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. We will pay particular focus on number 6.; the issue that can occur with multi-currency.
Common reasons for post-purchase pages not displaying
- Alternative payment methods Shopify does not support post-purchase pages when alternative payment methods are used. Examples include: gift cards, Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay, Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, and Google Pay
- Express payment methods - for example PayPal Express and ShopPay may not always display post-purchase pages depending on Shopify’s settings
- Payment providers storing CVV details - Providers such as Braintree, PayPal Payments Pro, and E-Way store CVV details, which can prevent post-purchase pages from displaying - if you haven't already, please check out our helpdesk articles here and here
- Free orders - Orders with a total value of $0 will not trigger post-purchase pages
- Missing shipping address - If a shipping address is not provided (e.g., for cash on delivery or local pickups), post-purchase pages will not display
- Multi-currency setup - Post-purchase pages will not display for customers paying in a currency different from your store's default currency
You can find a more detailed list of reasons here.
Resolving multi-currency issues
One of the most common reasons for missing post-purchase pages listed above is issues with 6. above; multi-currency setup. Follow these steps, and/or watch the video in this article, to resolve it:
- Log in to your Shopify store (this must be the store owner, not a collaborator)
- Click Settings
- Select General
- Scroll down to the Store currency section under Store defaults
- Check the default currency. If it doesn't align with the currency most of your customers use:
- Click the three dots
- Select Change store currency (only the store owner can make this change)
- Choose the preferred currency
- Save your changes
By setting the default currency to the one used by the majority of your customers, you ensure post-purchase pages display correctly for the majority of your customers.
Well, that’s a wrap!
