How do conditions work?
Conditions allow you to segment your customers and show each of them a different set of widgets.
With conditions, you can create more accurate and personalized flows in the Flow Builder- showing each customer the right offer at the right time according to their properties and the actions they took.
This article and video will go over how to create and manage conditions, as well as how the logic behind conditions works so that you can understand exactly what will be shown to customers when you set it up.
How conditions work
First, let's understand the hierarchy:
Conditions are placed inside pages
Slots are created inside conditions, each slot represents a specific location on the page
Widgets are grouped inside slots
That means that through conditions, you can control the different widget groups that are displayed to the customer in a specific location, on a specific page.
You place a slot in your Shopify editor once, and this is its location until you move it. Conditions don't change the slot's location, they only change what this location contains.
Conditions priorities
When you have multiple conditions on a page, their priority will be defined by their order from top to bottom.
When a customer reaches any page in the purchase flow, ReConvert checks the top condition first, and moves down the conditions list until one is met.
Once a condition is met- the widgets defined in its slots are displayed, and ReConvert doesn't continue checking the other conditions.
If no condition is met, the default condition is selected, and whatever default widgets you defined there will be displayed.
Empty slots in a condition
In some cases, you might decide to keep a slot empty in some conditions:
In cases like this, ReConvert will check if this slot has widgets in another relevant condition, and show them. If no relevant conditions have widgets for this slot, nothing will be displayed.
If you want to keep this slot completely blank, you can add an empty widget to this slot.
Managing conditions
Creating a condition
To create a new condition, click the Add condition button at the top of the conditions bar:
In the Actions menu, the condition setup wizard will open up, and you will be able to define your new condition, and click Save when you are done.
We recommend changing the default condition name when creating it, so that it represents what this condition filters.
At the time of writing this article, you can create conditions based on the products in the cart, but new options will be constantly added in, and you can click the Condition dropdown to see which options are available to you.
If you want to learn more about each of the condition settings and how they work, have a look at our available conditions settings article.
Once you click the Save button, the condition will be created, and added to the conditions bar, with the name you gave it.
Changing an existing condition
Once your condition was created, you can view it in the conditions bar:
Turn the condition on/off with the toggle- when the toggle is off, none of the condition's widgets are visible to customers
View a summary of the condition, and the products associated with it- by hovering over the products tooltip
Edit the condition's setting through the Actions menu
Delete the condition through the Action menu
Next: start setting up your first condition with the conditions settings article.
