What is the "customer segment" condition?

The "customer segment" condition in the ReConvert Flow Builder allows merchants to target Shopify’s customer segments directly within their post-purchase flows. To learn more about Shopify's customer segments and how to set them up for use within ReConvert, see later in this article.

What are customer segments?

Customer segments are dynamic, rule-based lists that group customers with similar characteristics. These segments update automatically in real-time based on whether customers meet the criteria.

Using Shopify's customer segments, you can supercharge ReConvert with greater precision and segmentation. For example, you can:

Discover insights about your customers, such as purchasing behavior or geographic trends
Combine multiple customer segments for tailored targeting
Develop cost-efficient marketing strategies based on predicted spending

Creating customer segments

You can group customers with similar characteristics into segments:

From the Shopify main menu, click Customers, then Segments, and finally Create segment

Create your segment(s) using:

Template - Choose from Shopify's premade templates organized by helpful topics

Templates

Filter - Build your own segment from scratch using filters, operators, and values, or search for the filter you need

AI - Use Shopify's native AI (Sidekick) to create a segment based on your description

Shopify's AI, 'Sidekick'

🛠️ Top Tips
* Use Shopify's built-in AI Sidekick to quickly create the segmentation you need without learning a new language of operators and values
* For more details about customer segments, check Shopify's articles:-
- components of a customer segment and
- filter reference guide, or

* Keep your customer segments updated. Regularly review and adjust them to align with your business goals and optimize their use in ReConvert flows
* Combine conditions for precision. Use the customer segment condition alongside other Flow Builder conditions for highly targeted post-purchase flows
